Launched on the market in July 2000 at the Farnborough International Airshow in England, the Legacy 600 (previously called just “Legacy”) was introduced as the corporate jet of the new economy, meant for the Executive, Corporate and Authority Transportation markets. An executive jet aircraft developed on the platform of the ERJ 135, it was designed to combine comfort and performance.

In 2001, it took its maiden flight and received CTA certification. The following year, it was approved by the JAA (Joint Aviation Authorities) of Europe, and the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) of the United States.

In order to meet the needs of operators of the Legacy 600, Embraer broadened its service offerings, expanding its base of representatives and technical assistance through partnerships with the main executive aviation service centers around the world.

The excellent performance of the Legacy 600 led Embraer to invest in the development of a portfolio of products to meet the growing demand of the Executive Aviation Market.
