Located in São José dos Campos (state of São Paulo), Embraer Liebherr Equipamentos do Brasil S.A. - ELEB was established in 1999 through of a joint venture between Embraer and Swiss group Liebherr Aerospace. The company's origins, however, date back to 1984, when Embraer Divisão de Equipamentos (EDS, the Embraer Equipment Division) was created as part of the complementary industrialization program associated with the development of the AMX. The goal was to enable the domestic industry to design and manufacture aircraft components.
In July 2008, Embraer acquired Liebherr's 40% stake in ELEB and went on to hold control over the company, which was then renamed ELEB Equipamentos S.A.
Today, ELEB operates in the regional, executive, commercial and defense aviation segments. It has a modern Service Center, which can offer maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. The company has a remarkable ability in developing, producing and providing after sales support for landing gear and hydraulic and electromechanical components for fixed wing and rotary aircraft. In addition to providing landing gear for Embraer's entire line of aircraft, ELEB is in charge of providing maintenance and support, and of manufacturing and distributing spare parts for those models. It also offers global support to its customers through authorized service centers located in the United States and in Europe.
