The Eugênio de Melo unit is located in the district of the same name in São José dos Campos (state of São Paulo). It was created in 2000, when Embraer acquired an old deactivated factory to house it. The facilities were restored in record time, and the unit went into operation in January 2001.
Focusing on tool development and manufacturing activities, the unit builds piping systems, solder and metalwork, over and beyond large cables (electrical harness assembly). Furthermore, it is responsible for employee training and development, and for the aeronautical engineering specialization Program. It is also home to the Engenheiro Juarez Wanderley High School, which was founded by Embraer to serve the region's disadvantaged youth.
